Abstract
This workshop was organized in the early 1980s to produce HgxCd1-xHTe (MCT) mid- and long-wave infrared night vision technology. A key was a n organizational plan that would combine industry, university, and gov ernment work to optimize return on the overall investment. (A majority of the work was sponsored by the U.S. Government.) To put this in per spective, three models will be presented, going from basic work to man ufacturing a product. These are the series, parallel, and hybrid model s. The workshop fits the parallel model best and can be thought of as a pioneering attempt in implementing such a model.
