Y. Ochiai et al., WAVE-FUNCTION SCARRING AND CLASSICAL COMMENSURABILITY IN CORRUGATED QUANTUM WIRES, Solid-state electronics, 42(7-8), 1998, pp. 1125-1130
The low temperature magneto-resistance of quasi-ballistic, corrugated
quantum wires has been studied. In the region near zero magnetic field
, the magneto-resistance exhibits a series of clear oscillations which
simulations reveal to be associated with multiple backscattering of e
lectrons from the intentionally induced gate corrugation. This backsca
ttering,in turn, gives rise to a strong scarring of the probability de
nsity in the wire, the details of which are easily related to classica
l scattering trajectories within it. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. Al
