J. Adamsroy et J. Barling, PREDICTING THE DECISION TO CONFRONT OR REPORT SEXUAL HARASSMENT, Journal of organizational behavior, 19(4), 1998, pp. 329-336
We examined the predictors of women's decisions to confront or report
sexual harassment from a sample of 802 employed women, 142 of whom ind
icated they had been sexually harassed. Analyses of variance showed th
at personal assertiveness predicted the decision to confront the haras
ser. In addition, perceived procedural justice was associated with rep
orting sexual harassment. However, the direction of this relationship
was opposite from that predicted: women who had reported sexual harass
ment through formal channels manifested lower perceptions of justice.
