Abstract
The United States and Japan have long existed in a symbiotic partnersh ip. The sociology of Japan contributes to the international and multic ultural approaches within sociology. The goal of the course is to shar pen students' observational and analytical abilities and increase unde rstanding of Japanese society using sociological theories and concepts . The course also helps students accept, appreciate, and respect the s ociocultural differences between the two nations. It also provides amp le opportunities to reflect upon American society.
