M. Seib et al., A PASSIVE MULTICHANNEL 3D RANGE SENSOR USING THE PUPIL DIVISION AND TEMPORAL PHASE MEASUREMENT METHOD, TM. Technisches Messen, 65(7-8), 1998, pp. 260-263
A new generation of a monocular multi range sensor will be presented.
The passively working range sensor tin an arrangement with m n chann
els) is based on the method of splitting the optic's pupil in combinat
ion with a temporal phase measurement method. First results of the pro
totype will illustrate its capability. Optical distance measurement sy
stems can be provided into active and passive methods. The sensor prot
otype presented here belongs to the group of passive methods like the
stereoscopic measurement method It doesn't require a special structure
d illumination or light pulses like other active methods (e.g. line or
grid illumination, Gray cone projection, Moire pi-ejection, time of f
light) [1]. The fields of application of the multi range sensor protot
ype comprise visual aids for blind people, collision avoidance for rob
ots and vehicles, volume measurement of bulky goods, and other industr
ial applications.
