Ch. Lin et al., PREDICTION OF THE GROWTH-MORPHOLOGY OF AMINO-ACID CRYSTALS IN SOLUTION I - ALPHA-GLYCINE, Journal of crystal growth, 191(4), 1998, pp. 791-802
A modified attachment energy model is developed, attempting to predict
morphologies of crystals in aqueous solution, and even in the presenc
e of adsorbing additives. Calculation of the habit of glycine (alpha-f
orm) crystals in vacuo and in pure water, by means of the GenMol softw
are, yields successful predictions. Our model mainly justifies the occ
urrence of the {120} form in aqueous solution, not predicted by the cl
assical growth morphology (BFDH or attachment energy) models. (C) 1998
