D. Schmitt et B. Ouladdiaf, ABSORPTION CORRECTION FOR ANNULAR CYLINDRICAL SAMPLES IN POWDER NEUTRON-DIFFRACTION, Journal of applied crystallography, 31, 1998, pp. 620-624
Neutron absorption correction coefficients have been calculated numeri
cally for annular cylindrical samples which are highly absorbing mater
ials (1 < mu R < 30). The angular variation of the absorption factor d
iffers from that of an equivalent full cylinder. As an example, a gain
of a factor of 15 in diffracted intensity can be reached at low Bragg
angles for mu R = 18 if an annular cylinder is used instead of a full
cylindrical sample holder with the same amount of material.
