W. Branscheid et al., INSTRUMENTAL CLASSIFICATION AND DETERMINATION OF THE SLAUGHTER VALUE FOR CATTLE WITH HELP OF THE VIDEO IMAGE-ANALYSIS, Die Fleischwirtschaft, 78(10), 1998, pp. 1046
Continuing our investigations for using the Video Image Analysis at be
ef carcasses we have compiled further bases for the calculation of est
imation formulae. We have concentrated primarily on the dependence of
the estimation accuracy from the genotype as well as from the category
. Additionally, perspectives of development are presented, which could
increase the estimation accuracy concerning the criteria of the carca
ss composition. The results being achieved till now show, that the Vid
eo Image Analysis process is fully developed for the practical purpose
s of grading. This is valid particularly for the application at differ
ent genotypes of young bulls. However it is also correct, according to
the first preliminary results, for the application at carcasses of co
ws. The estimations for determination of the carcass composition at yo
ung bulls are likewise of high precision and independent from the geno
type. Additional improvements of the estimation accuracy are conceivab
le with help of information from the cut of roast beef made at the qua
rtering.
