In a sample of 105 firms in Spain, a relationship was found between st
rategic proactivity and approaches to the natural environment. The fir
ms with the most proactive business strategies (''prospectors'') emplo
yed both traditional corrective and modern preventive natural environm
ental approaches. Firm size had a major impact on the amount of traini
ng relating to the natural environment in the sample firms and on thei
r corrective approaches but made no difference to their preventive app
roaches.
