Dm. Malone et al., ASSESSING TRAINING NEEDS OF GERIATRIC SERVICE PROVIDERS - TELEPHONE SURVEY OUTCOMES, Educational gerontology, 24(7), 1998, pp. 639-654
To address the systematic linkage between gerontological higher educat
ion and continuing education, the University of Georgia Gerontology Ou
treach Program needs assessment model is designed to be process and ou
tcome oriented, ongoing and based on the input from a variety of const
ituents. In the final of three articles, synthesis of the results from
focus groups and a telephone survey are informed by gerontology core
principles to comprise the framework for the educational model of the
Outreach program. The qualitative data from the focus groups provided
the opportunity for elaboration of issues identified through the telep
hone survey. The educational model presented in this article addresses
pertinent issues as well as a multi-level curriculum to address three
levels of trainees in gerontology.
