Abstract
This paper assesses the effect of a comprehensive service-learning pro gram on students' level of civic responsibility A nonequivalent contro l group experiment was conducted with students from a large, Western u niversity. The results of the multivariate analysis generally supporte d the hypothesis that students who are involved in a comprehensive ser vice-learning program will show larger increases in civic responsibili ty when compared to: ill students involved in community service but wh o are not formally integrating it with their academic course work, and (2) students who are not involved in any community service.
