Fluorocarbons and Stratospheric Ozone: A Review of Current Knowledge

During the past decade, significant attention has been focused on the stratospheric ozone layer and its possible perturbation by human activities.The field has recently been entered by a number of statisticians applying the methods of time series analysis of the ozone data record in an attempt to search for deterministic trends.This paper is an elementary introduction to the theory of the ozone layer with special attention to the potential impact of fluorocarbons.
