Contributions of Statistics to the Analysis of Environmental Health Problems Caused by Pollutants

Attention is focused on contributions of statisticians to analysis of environmental health problems caused by pollutants.Of importance are statistical inputs into analysis of time series data on environmental pollutant concentrations, the epidemiological analysis of changes in public health patterns stemming from exposure to pollutants, and the analysis of toxicological studies of pollutant effects in animal models.Expertise must also be directed toward handling the theme of uncertainty in the pollution data base, and to optimizing the use of resources and tactics in research aimed at protection of human health and the environment against the effects of pollutants.
