The 17 beta-diamino-steroids 17 iethylaminoethyl)-amino-1,3,5,(10)-est
ratrien-3-ol 2 and its androstane analog 17 beta-(N,N-diethylaminoethy
l)-amino-5 alpha-androstan-3 beta-ol 3, were prepared and tested for a
nticoagulant activity. A single subcutaneous administration of compoun
d 2, produced in adult male mice, dose-dependent increases in blood cl
otting times. The androstane analog 5 had no anticoagulant effect at e
quivalent and higher doses. Aromaticity of ring A and/or absence of th
e 19 methyl group may to be necessary for anticoagulant effect. The as
say of 2 on vaginal cornification and uterine weight showed a moderate
estrogenic activity.
