Jd. Mittelstaedt et Ra. Mittelstaedt, THE PROTECTION OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY - ISSUES OF ORIGINATION AND OWNERSHIP, Journal of public policy & marketing, 16(1), 1997, pp. 14-25
Western intellectual property protection is based on the twin premises
that individual people can originate and own ideas. Because these pre
mises are not universally accepted, differences in laws and enforcemen
t exist in the global market. The authors present a framework for desc
ribing these differences and discuss it in terms of relations among de
veloping nations, between developed and developing nations, and betwee
n all nations and indigenous peoples. They conclude with a discussion
of implications for marketers in several industrial sectors.
