Abstract
Nutrition for Health - An Agenda for Action reflects Canada's commitme nt to develop a notional plan of action on nutrition. Canada accepted this obligation along with other participants who attended the 1992 In ternational Conference on Nutrition in Rome. The Agenda for Action, re leased in the spring 1996, outlined four strategic directions and 26 k ey actions. Implementing the Agenda is the challenge to all persons co mmitted to improving the nutritional health of Canadians. This article illustrates how dietitians, individually, or working in partnership w ith each other, and with those outside the profession, could take acti on on each strategy direction in the Agenda. It also proposes ways for Dietitians of Canada to support dietitians to overcome perceived barr iers and to achieve import from their actions. The Agenda for Action p resents a unique opportunity for dietitians to not only improve the he alth of all Canadians, but to also position dietitians as leaders in f ood and nutrition. Let's seize the opportunity now!
