The use of porous membranes permeable to hydrogen in molten carbonate
fuel cells to control the diffusion of electrolyte vapours has been in
vestigated. For this purpose, a mathematical model has been developed
to study the influence of the membrane properties on the hydrogen perm
eate flow and on the electrolyte diffusive flow. The results demonstra
ted that a porous membrane can be applied to prevent the poisoning of
the internal reforming catalyst.
