Electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) has been applied to in situ p
repared (DMe-DCNQI)(2)Cu Me-DCNQI=2,5-dimethyl-N,N'-dicyanoquinonediim
ine). The intensity of the loss peaks changed significantly with the p
rimary electron energies. It is probably due to the matrix element eff
ects of the EELS. In conjunction with photoelectron spectroscopy using
synchrotron radiation, the nature of the unoccupied levels has been e
