Abstract
The crystallization behavior of melts close in composition to the meta stable compound Cd4Sb3 was studied by DTA measurements during thermal cycling, The stability of Cd4Sb3 was found to depend on the degree of superheat. The conditions are determined for obtaining single-phase Cd 4Sb3, which can subsequently be used to prepare Cd4Sb3 single crystals by directional solidification.
