De. Kipp, REFLECTIONS ON TEACHING GRADUATE-STUDENTS HOW TO USE AND PUBLISH NUTRITION INFORMATION ON THE WORLD-WIDE-WEB, Journal of nutrition education, 28(6), 1996, pp. 308-312
This article describes an approach to teaching graduate nutrition stud
ents how to search the Internet and publish on the World Wide Web (WWW
). The students first learned how to search for information and then d
eveloped documents on a nutrition topic. The first WWW document was fi
rst used as a supplement to an in-class lecture and then was expanded
to include links to other documents the students developed and to othe
r locations on the WWW that were relevant to the topic. Students learn
ed how to develop the programs using Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML)
and link the documents to the WWW home page for the course that had b
een developed by the instructor The outcome was very positive. Pros an
d cons to this educational approach are discussed.
