C. Kienle et al., COMPOSITES BETWEEN SPINELS AND BINARY OXIDES AND THEIR SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION ACTIVITY, Materials chemistry and physics, 49(3), 1997, pp. 211-216
The catalytic activity under selective catalytic reduction conditions
for composites between the spinels MgAl2O4 or ZnAl2O4 and CuO are repo
rted. It is shown that the conversion of NO into N-2 starts at about 2
50 degrees C and reaches a maximum value of about 30470 between 300 an
d 500 degrees C. The conversion is highly selective and no formation o
f N2O is observed. In absence of hydrocarbons as reducing agent the ac
tivity is lost. The observed catalytic performance is explained by the
well-known model for the selective catalytic reduction activity of Cu
containing catalysts from Iwamoto et al. for Cu-ZSM-5. Thus, the cata
lytic properties are determined more by the nature of the active centr
es than by the nature of the support.
