Abstract
It is shown that a 2-D binary phase grating with a phase step of pi/2 produces an amplitude checker image at planes distant z(T)/8, and henc e is suitable for array generation. This study is in sharp contrast to that reported earlier where a phase step of pi is used, and a cross g rating is generated.
