A procedure for detection and determination of pesticide residues in f
ruit and vegetables (apples, potatoes and carrots) is described. As we
ll as 20 of 33 current compounds of different chemical belonging will
simultaneous recorded by HPLC/UV-detection and GC-ECD. The efficiency
of the method is tested by means of recovery experiments concerning th
e apple. The recovery rate is between 38 and 112% for all of the 20 si
multaneous determinable compounds. The detection-limits of HPLC for al
l of the 28 determinable compounds are in the range of 0.01 mg/kg. For
the GC they are in dependence on the compound between 0.0006 and 0.01
5 mg/kg referring to the fresh weight. The GC method allows the determ
ination of 25 different pesticides. A monitoring study, in which 40 sa
mples of apples, potatoes and carrots of different origin and type res
pectively were examined, should demonstrate the relevance of the selec
ted reference standards. In one apple sample cr-endosulfan, in one pot
ato sample tetradifone and in one carrot sample iprodione were detecte
d.
