Abstract
Reconstructed structures of metal on Si(100)2X1 surfaces annealed at h igh temperature have been investigated by scanning tunneling microscop y as functions of the type of metal, coverage, and annealing temperatu re. The reconstruction mechanisms at high temperature depend on the ty pe of metal. In.the present paper, the formation mechanisms of reconst ruction at high temperature are classified briefly into three categori es and are discussed qualitatively.
