Synthesis conditions, x-ray diffraction and differential scanning calo
rimetry (DSC) data, and dielectric properties of Pb(Fe2/3W1/3)O-3-PbTi
O3 solid solutions are reported. The materials containing 0-20 wt % Pb
TiO3 are found to have cubic structure, while those containing 30-100
wt % PbTiO3 have tetragonal structure. The Curie temperature of the te
tragonal, ferroelectric phase increases with increasing PbTiO3 content
. The cubic phase also exhibits anomalies in the temperature dependenc
e of the dielectric constant above room temperature; these anomalies a
re similar to those observed earlier for pure lead ferrite tungstate.
The thermal event in DSC curves vanishes for solid solutions containin
g less than 70 wt % PbTiO3. Magnetic measurements suggest the presence
of a small amount of ferrite, which is not detected by XRD.
