PERLITE PARTIAL SUBSTITUTION OF KIESELGUHR FOR BEER FILTRATION

Inclusion of 30% perlite Harborlite J 100 into the first coarse kiesel guhr precoat leads to the creation of a more stable filter cake with i mproved clarity efficiency. The benefits can be summarised as: about h alf the Delta P development across the filter with time (i.e. possibil ity for longer filter runs); better beer clarity (an average of 0.1 EB C better). These results can be achieved with up to 30% lower kieselgu hr dosage for the same quantity of beer filtered.
