The physiological assessment of osmotic pressure of sport drinks is ve
ry much in dispute. Therefore an effort has been made to show the pres
ent level of knowledge in the paper to hand. This paper shows that the
osmotic pressure is an important factor besides the water, carbonhydr
ates (calories) and mineral substances. Sport drinks should be prefera
bly within the osmotic pressure range.
